Switzerland's Foreign Ministry has summoned the First Secretary of the US Interests Section of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran over sex charges.
According to the Swiss National News Agency (SDA), Marco Kampf was summoned to the Department of Foreign Affairs in the city of Berne after he had an indecent sexual relation with an Iranian woman in his diplomatic-plated car in northern Tehran, the Persian section of Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported.
On Monday, the Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesman Lars Knuchel called the scandal a 'regretful incident'.
The Swiss diplomat had already been legally warned for his behavior in Iran in 2008, he added.
According to the spokesman, Kampf has not been dismissed from his post.
The news also drew attention from the major US Cable News Network CNN .
Both the Swiss diplomat and the Iranian woman have left Iran after they were released by the Iranian police on bail, the Swiss newspaper Tagesanzeiger also said.
Marco M. Kampf took over as head of the US Interests section in Tehran on August 3, 2006.
Iran and the US have not had diplomatic relations since Washington severed diplomatic ties with Tehran in the aftermath of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
