Batesh says no QB cadres in Gaza jails

The prominent political leader in the Islamic Jihad Movement Khaled Al- Batesh has categorically denied Tuesday media reports alleging that the PA government in Gaza arrested fighters from the Movement and beat them up.
Batesh, in this regard, stressed that his movement's relationship with the PA government in Gaza and the Hamas Movement was "very good" and not polluted by any misunderstanding.
Media reports had earlier alleged that the PA police in Gaza rounded up and humiliated 10 fighters from the Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, after they fired rockets on the Israeli colonies surrounding the tiny and besieged Gaza Strip.
But Batesh, who is participating in the inter-Palestinian national dialogue in the Egyptian capital Cairo, explained that what had happened was a simple event between members of the QB and the PA police south of the Strip, which, he added, was solved promptly and without arrests.
The PA interior ministry in the legitimate PA government of Palestinian premier Ismael Haneyya also denied the reports, and described them as "baseless".
In a statement it issued and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC, the ministry stressed the "excellent" coordination between its members and cadres of the QB, underlining that national interests and harmony was the main factor that controls all matters and the internal relationship [with armed wings of the Palestinian resistance factions].
In this regard, the ministry called on media outlets to check their sources of information before they publish "false" reports, pointing out that leaders of the Islamic Jihad are known and could be contacted to clarify any matter regarding their members directly.
The ministry also underscored that it was and would remain the ministry that protects the resistance and the resistance fighters because it was the product of a government of resistance, alluding to the Hamas-led PA government in Gaza, and thus, the ministry added, all attempts to fishing in muddy waters and to mar the ministry's rapport with the various Palestinian resistance factors would fail.
