
Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the State Guest House here on Sunday. During the meeting, overall political situation in the country, with particular reference to the upcoming Senate elections came under discussion.
The Prime Minister said that in order to steer the country out of political, economic and security challenges, all parties should work towards a common goal of strengthening democracy and attaining political stability.
Referring to the Senate elections, he said that political parties should set a good example following the proposition of their respective electoral mandate through mutual understanding. He appreciated the political parties for unopposed Senate elections in Sindh through consultation and hoped that the same pattern would be followed in other provinces as well. The Chief Minister shared the views of the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister of the development works in the province. He also gave him an overview of the measures taken by the provincial government for maintaining and improving the law and order situation in Punjab.
