Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a message today on the occasion of laying to eternal rest the sacred bodies of five unknown martyrs at Tehran's Amir Kabir University, lauded the pious and committed Iranian youths who made sacrifices for the defense of the country's territorial integrity during the 8-year war (1980-88), the US had imposed on the Islamic Republic through Saddam. The Supreme Leader said "Our nation, mainly the youth, is indebted to the sacrifices of these martyrs." Ayatollah Khamenei said in his message that the martyrs' sacrifices granted the Iranian nation the gift of Islam and independence and it is a duty to commemorate them.
