Afghan children comprise over 60,000 of Tehrani students
TEHRAN, March 3 (MNA) -- “A number of 61 thousand Afghan children are receiving education at Tehran schools,” an official at Education Ministry said here on Tuesday.
According to Fatemeh Peiravinia, a total number of 636 Iraqi children and 153 children from other nationalities are receiving education at Tehran schools.
Based on the census figures released by the Education Ministry, there was a 75% increase in number of Afghan students being educated in 2007 compared with 1990.
In 1990, Afghan children comprised 101,820 of Iranian students, while in 2008, the number was about 199,346.
